If I said Wild Turkey, you might not have clicked!

So I'm not one to go looking for birds, I wait for them to come to me! I have been waiting for these Turkeys for a long time. How can a bird be so ugly, yet so pretty at the same time?

I would have clicked, very cool birds and very skittish. You're fortunate to have such interesting neighbors - well done

I will click on all Wild Turkey pics Sandy so take all the shots you can then share them with us. They are a beautiful bird but I've always thought they had an ugly head. They also can be intelligent and simple minded at the same time. They always amuse me when they walk up to my netting fence on the East farm and spend an hour trying to get their large body through the 6 inch squares in the fence when they can easily just fly over it.
You caught the colors well on some of these birds, not easily done.

I knew it was turkeys from your heading and still clicked! Yup, pretty ugly, but excellent shots Sandy.

Thanks Bob. Good too know Turkey photos are more popular than I thought! They visited again this morning while I was gone. Tracks everywhere!

Thanks Stacy! Good comparison to the moose...now I want a good moose photo! Moose travel through our fields on occasion too!

Thanks Steve! The turkeys are similar to the turkey vulture when it comes to an ugly head! I did luck out with the sunshine showing off the colors in the feathers. That is so funny that they try to get through your fence..you should record them!

Thanks Jeff. I'm sure I will get another chance. Now that they have found the free buffet, they have already returned!

Thanks Terry. We still have a lot of snow, but a lot of it melted a couple of days ago. Now it's cold again so at least they can walk on top of the snow.

Thanks Ian! These are certainly the best photos that I have ever managed to get of Wild Turkeys. I have a few more worth sharing when I get the chance.

I lucked out with the group of 4. I just opened my front door enough to stick the lens through, plus the wind was blowing like crazy so they probably couldn't hear me! The large male with his lady friend retreated before I could get my camera settings correct. Most of them I had to delete from over exposure. Not used too having bright sunshine!
