This is similar to the laser finder posted on here a while back only it uses a red dot finderscope. These two items are required from ebay to complete this project

If you buy the celestron finder on ebay, its even cheaper, but I prefer the above listed model.

All you have to do now is use a file or saw to cut back the brace on the finder scope and create a slot 1/4 wide and 1/4 deep in the base of the finder. Next tap a 1/4 hole through the front pre existing hole in the dovetail. Thread everything together and it Collimate with the sensor.

This finder has adjustment knobs in x and y axises. Center live view on a bright star and then center the red dot in the finder on that same star. Now wherever you point the camera you can use the finder to pinpoint your deep sky object. This is particularly useful when using a narrowband filter on your dslr which prevents you from seeing anything on the live view screen.

This would also work well for 300mm+ telephotos shooting birds or nature.

Tested today, x y axises work great. Wish id done this a long time ago. Also some may wonder why not use a better quality red dot? Well this weighs as much as a AA battery so it does nothing to balance. Something to consider.
