Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I was having a hard time really figuring out where this discussion belongs.
I cover a few sporting events each year and I am looking for a way to streamline my data transfer (Basically eliminate a dedicated card runner). Down to the nitty gritty without the small talk:
(Setting is a hockey rink - 200-250' from camera to main PC)
1D MKIV tethered to a laptop which is connected to a wireless static network. To be able to reach the distance I need to cover I am going to use Ubiquiti NSM5 Nanostations.
On the other end, the other NSM5 will be connected to a main computer that has the hosting folder for all of the images. From there I will have iPads accessing the static network using a custom program and these will be my viewing station.
--------------- Now that all of that information is out there, onto my questions
Has anyone shot tethered to a laptop folder which is being hosted on another machine? Have there been any issues? What happens if the network goes down during a shoot?
Looking for into it, a 1Dx might be the ticket over using my 1D MKIV. The fact it has ethernet could make things that much simpler.
