Great images! With all that snow they're having a tough time making a living! Where were these taken?

Wonderful captures but those poor birds must be hungry! Do you put food out for them? I know it has been a tough winter for the birds here so it must have been even worse farther north. I have barely been able to keep my feeders full this winter. I am sure without my help allot of them would not have made it.

Thank you! It amazes me how they survive our winters here in Vermont. I just went snow shoeing, and the snow is still really deep.

Thanks Carol! I do put cracked corn and sunflower seeds on the ground for the regular birds, hoping that the turkeys would find it too! Finally they have discovered the buffet!

Well done Sandy, especially like the last one. You did so well capturing the colors. The hens at your place seem to be much brighter and more iridescent than the hens where I live.
Did I mention that they love Oats, and they really love them in the spring if planted and sprout about 1 inch. That is asking too much though just to get a few turkeys to stay in your yard all day:lol:

Thanks Steve! Normally the turkeys look really dark, so I'm assuming the colors were brought out by the bright sunshine and the fact the wind was blowing so hard that it was fluffing up their feathers.
I'm sure that is a bit maddening when they start destroying oats before they even gets established. My Mother said they dig up her flower gardens in the fall. She chases them away, but some of them are so bold that they won't leave!

Are you going to be dining on ham come Thanksgiving? Don't get too attached to them.;-)a Very nice, Sandy, got those dark colors to pop out. I see you also tend to add a little humor in your captions. Hope they don't "black-ball" us.

Thanks Stacy! There are quite a few in my extended family that are chomping at the bit for Turkey season too!

Thanks Rog! I will be serving a "Butterball" for Thanksgiving Dinner! Humor...it's the spice of life...isn't it?

Love the last image. Great work.

Thanks Dolina! That's my favorite of this set too. Not bad considering I was using a 70-200 lens.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment!

Part 2 of many we hope for you Sandy!
Your "buffet" certainly has their attention and I'm sure as others have said that they're in a struggle this winter. I can't even imagine how much snow you've had.
I too like the colors you captured in your last image. Something about red legs really gets my attention :-)
