I suspect what i should have asked was - "Which famous people have you spoken to on here who we would all have heard off"? who are interested in taking pictures or photography, but isn't how they are better known.

Does being the subject of an all points bulletin qualify?

But seriously, it's not hard to achieve a level of fame and not all fame is good. For example, there are many famous people here on POTN because of their participation, or the quality of the work they share, or even less noble reputations such as attention hounding. There are certainly people here famous in their community for being helpful or charitable, or mean or stingy. You can be a famous songwriter or a famous drunk (or both). There's many levels and types of fame.

Judging from the thread title, I'm assumed OP meant a celebrity who is well known in either mainstream or subcultures, which I imagine does not happen often, nor would said famous person admit their identity?

It just would have been interesting if people on here posted about past experiences of chatting on here with anyone we might know, who showed an interest in photography, just the same as chatting on Twitter etc, i bet there are lots and lots of celebs/singers actors etc etc as we all share an artistic interest.

John Mayer is actually an avid Leica shooter, he just doesn't rub it into people faces like other celebrities do(Sixx, Kravitz).

Taylor swift also covets her Leica as well, which is kinda funny she's worth over 260 million, can afford any camera imaginable yet she still uses her 6 year old D-Lux 4(worth less than $380 now). Just goes to show that it's not the gear, but how you use it.

She shoots more instant film than most photographers also! she ditched the impossible project for instax recently , so happy about that! I can't stand them.

Nicky Sixx is also a Leica user. Heard about that on his show recently.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

I think a better title for this thread would have been something like what famous people are also into photography.

I highly doubt anyone famous will let themselves be known on a public forum such as this. As cool as that would be, I don't see that happening.

I have a famous name......

but sadly I'm not famous (nor do I have all the money). Makes it fun when I tell people my name on the phone - they usually pause for a second and then say "are you serious?"
