Im trying to find a geared head or a fine movement head similar to the manfrotto 410 and was wondering if there are any alternatives to the 410 jr and larger model? Like a chinese knockoff maybe? I need the micromovement for my astrotrac, the ball head I use now is sturdy but reframing a target by locking and unlocking tension knobs is a PITA. I would even be happy with a micromovement ballhead if there is such a thing. Understand that I am using this for framing the camera, i have a solid alt az head beneath the astrotrac for polar alignment.

Another option I have considered is a gimbal head, but do they make micro motion gimbals? Anyways please let me know whats out there. No way i will spend more than $400 and I have no problem with old used even vintage stuff either if it will help me accomplish my goal.

Looks like an interesting new head, but I cannot fathom why they used to 200PL QR system. I would want something sturdier.

Arca Swiss makes geared heads too, but they're quite expensive. AFAIK, there's nothing cheaper than the Manfrotto 410.
