I'm looking for a folding cart that will hold a collapsible pole with one strobe and battery. The problem with using hand trucks for a folding light cart is that they typically have small wheels. I've found these two beach folding carts. I did a search on light carts on this forum, but all of the threads were old and they were missing images to the posts.

The first one is a mini flolding beach cart. I saw a video that the tires bounce around when they're on pavement. So that made me little skeptical.

Here is the second folding beach cart. It is a bigger version of the first cart.

Does anyone have any experience with these beach carts being converted to light carts? If you have something better than please show me. lol

Are you specifically looking for something to be used at the beach or just in general? Will you be using it in loose sand and gravel or will it mostly be used on hard surfaces? Wht size and weight of battery?

I'm looking for something to use in general and not the beach. I thought those type of tires would work good going over gravel, dirt, and any type of terrain. But this is why I'm asking for opinions and/or advice. I thought maybe the wheels on these type of hand truck on this website might be to small for rolling around on diferent terrain. http://www.handtrucksrus.com/folding.aspx (external link)

Do any of you know anyone that has a good light cart and/or do you have any suggestions?

I'd be looking for the style of cart like the beach cart, but with tires like these:

I use this cart to carry strobes, light stands, modifiers and camera gear. Perfect for going from parking lot to venue or on location work. While shooting, I store my gears in there as well from prying eyes. When empty, it folds up and takes up very little room.

Exactly.

My hand truck has this kind of inflateable tire and I take it just about anywhere. I stow my gear in large, rugged plastic trunks and then strap them to the hand truck with bungies. Great indoors or out and on all kinds of terrain.

the other nice thing about the inflatable tires over the hard tires found on a lot of hand trucks is that the inflatable tires dampen vibration when going over rough surfaces.

No, I would take the beach cart without the balloon tires and put standard inflatable hand truck tires on it. I like the load capacity of the beach cart, but not the balloon tires.

Yes, the balloon tires are not a problem anywhere--they will always reduce the sharp jarring of the load that's most likely to cause damage, and unless the cart is very lightly loaded and being pulled really fast, they won't be bouncing.

The two carts I use for photography are this ladder cart ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com …stepladder_hand_cart.html (external link) ) and this mobile four wheel cart with "no flat" tires ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com …uipment_Transporters.html (external link) ) which I was lucky to snag for a great price when Calumet was liquidating inventory. I also have a couple of small hand trucks like this one ( http://www.sears.com …00987615000&mktRedirect=y (external link) ) that are just too handy not to have around.

Some guys are using folding 2 and 3 wheeled push/pull golf carts to haul photography gear, some in a very creative way. I bought one a few years ago and started the conversion to put a round, open top trash can in place of where the golf bag would be so that you could haul light stands, strobes, umbrellas and soft boxes. I was going to hang a few sandbags and PCB vagabonds from it as well but I just never did get that project finished.

That thing is so dang handy I cannot believe every photog does not have one. I can also attest to the fact that it holds more than it's 250 lb weight limit. ;-)a
