Been dying for a price drop on the D750 for a while, but no deals in sight. Canada had a recent price drop, and they are essentially selling body only for $1,800.00 US after conversion.

And I get a 2 year warranty. My friend's in laws live in Vancouver if I ever need service (I'm in San Diego).

My concern is hidden fees, charges, tariffs duties etc. I went to Vistek and punched it in, including my address here in San Diego, and I know to use Canada Post/USPS and NOT UPS/Fedex. Shipping is $20 and I'm not charged VAT, etc. Does that sound right? Is it because I'm not a Canadian purchaser, that a whole bunch of taxes aren't tacked on?

Anyone else purchase from Canada? Experiences?

I just bought a Canon 100-400 II from Vistek and shipped to Seattle. They shipped through Canada Post and there were no tarrifis or import taxes. This is my 4th purchase from them.

One thing to look into is your credit card conversion fees. Most credit cards charge 3-4% conversion fee. I know Capital One is one of the few credit cards that do not charge a fee.

If you want to talk to a specific person at Vistek I've always worked with Anthony Luke. He has done a good job for me.

NAFTA. Cameras are a duty free item between us and canada. As long as you use canada post there us no added fee. If you use FedEx or ups they pass on the brokerage fee from whoever they have do it for them.

Great deal all in all. Now I'm just anxiously awaiting the arrival. Btw each credit card company should provide you their conversion rate info in their user agreement. At least all of mines do including my bank card.

Note of clarification here. NAFTA applies to origin of product creation. In this case all these Canon Lenses and Bodies are manufactured in Japan so NAFTA is not in effect. The tariff fee on lenses and camera bodies manufactured in Japan and imported into the US is 2.3%. Canada Post and USPS does not collect these funds. UPS and FedEx both do. Also with UPS and FedEx they will charge a flat fee on top of that for there import processing. Last time I checked FedEx was $35.

That's exactly correct. Taxes are not collected on items that are exported out of the country, only shipped domestically - in which case the tax rate of the destination province is applied and collected at time of sale.
