Hello all! By default,as I understand, the fastest shutter speed you can get with a flash mounted is 250th of a second. What do I need to adjust in my 5D MkI and 60D to get a faster shutter speed? My wording may be inaccurate but Im sure you know what Im talking about. Using an external flash can give great results,if I know how to properly set things up. Any help is appreciated!!

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not too sure.

You would have to turn on HSS (High Speed Sync) on the flashes. Be aware though, HSS reduces the power output of the flash, so you are not going to get the same range from the flash.

When it ceases to be fun, it will be time to walk away

Which external flash do you have? Not all flash units are capable of High Speed Sync.

Thanks for the help guys. Mike,I have a 420EX. On the back of the flash is a button - green dot and 'H',lightening bolt with the H. After switching it from the green dot to the H I could go into the cameras settings and get a faster shutter speed. I suppose if I payed closer attention to what Im doing I wouldn't ask questions that can be answered by just opening my eyes, lol!

Thanks again for the replies! :p
