As the title says. I just bought a Sunpak multi-slot reader BUT it uses two rows of flimsy pins that easily get bent when inserting a compact flash card. I am sick of it! I only need the new reader to accept CF and SD cards AND to not make use of crappy pins :)

Aaaaaand GO!

Definitely find a reader that supports USB 3.0 and all of the SD card formats.

B&H has a Lexar reader that does just CF and SD cards. I really like the size of it.

This one is a little older, but I have had this reader below for quite a while and it definitely does the trick too.

I like my Lexar USB3 reader - its just takes CF and SD - works pretty fast, and has been reliable for me

I'm the third vote for the Lexar USB3 linked at B&H. I've had several other ones fail after a few months but the Lexar is still working.... and it doesn't shut off half way through an upload.

This USB 3.0 Transcend card reader (external link) works very well for me.

Once you get something else it would be interesting if you would post back about a comparison of the pins. The various readers I have compared all seem to lack in the pin area all need card when inserting the CF cards.

The deeper the slot is, before the pins connect, the better aligned the card will be

A better aligned card will reduce the chance of breaking/bending pins

I just want to echo the votes for the Lexar reader. USB 3.0, CF and SD slots, and affordable. At first I was worried about the "flip-up" design, but it hasn't missed a beat since day one.

i just bought this one. Research led me to Lexar as the best, or at least top of the list. I like the simplicity of it, and i do take readers with me from time to time so the fact that it pops closed and open is a bonus.

The Transcend USB 3.0 has worked well for me these past 2 years (maybe 3). Data transfers are close to the published for the memory cards installed. Price is quite reasonable so having spares on hand when they go south is easy. Like the rest of you, CF and SDHC are my usual uses so the other memory card slots don't get used.

If you want internal I got one of these last month. It's connects to the motherboard 19pin usb3 header. http://www.scan.co.uk …th-usb-5v-24a-charge-port (external link)
If you want external the I have the Lexar one mentioned above and it's just as fast, although I believe they're doing a UHS11 one as well.

Another vote for the Lexar USB 3 mentioned above. If you need something smaller, just remove the flip up portion from the surround.

Use both the Lexar and Sandisk. Both are equally fast. Between the 2, I'd recommend Lexar.

Lexar is always on my desk.

Sandisk is always in my bag due to slimmer dimensions and it DOES NOT stand on it's supplied stand on the desk. A hair's breathe will knock it off the stand.

Counterpoint to the USB 3.0 Lexar reader. I had this reader and it stopped on me about 6 months later. There may be an inherent design issue in the flip up design which may cause stress to the internal connections since the USB connection is angled instead of perpendicular to the body. This could just be me, though. I now have the Sandisk USB 3.0 reader and so far its working fine for.
