I have video cameras that use firewire. Are there ways of getting this video off the camera without finding an old computer? What about Macs with "thunderbolt" ports? Mar 23, 2015 10:46 | #4 I don't know of any simple solution that wouldn't involve buying a rather expensive miniDV capture deck. You may get lucky and find one used somewhere but most people that still use MiniDV tend to hold onto their Decks so that they can still use the cameras. You could also try a firewire to RCA adaptor and run through a RCA to USB capture device. This would be cheaper but I'm not sure what it would do to your video quality. Aaron
