Hi there. I have a Canon 700D and am very pleased with it. However, two days ago, and seemingly without reason, the LCD display stopped showing some of its functions. The Menu displays, the Info display both work and I can pull up settings info by pressing the Q button. However, the screen remains blank when shooting. Hence, I cannot see any of the setting for a particular mode and I don't get the 2 second preview of any image that I have taken. Live view also works.

I am hoping that there isn't something gone wrong with the camera but I can't see an that I can change any setting to correct this.

Has anyone got a clue as to what has happened?

David

Heya,

Menu -> First tab from left -> Image review settings. Probably is off.' Change it to what you want.
Next, when looking at the back of the LCD, press info' a few times. You'll notice it cycles from showing stuff, different options, to a blank LCD.

Very best,

The sensor that tells the camera to turn off the display when you are looking through the VF is just above the viewfinder. Is it dirty or is something blocking it, such as the eyecup?

I have to swap the focus of the view finder depending upon whether I am wearing my main varifocal glasses or my reading set. In doing this, I had, very slightly, raised the rubber cup. It was ever so slightly blocking the sensor. Putting it back into its correct place and - bingo - the display came back!

Thank you so much. I was just about to drive 25 miles to my local Canon repair specialists. I would have looked extremely silly!

Glad that you got it sorted(without the 25 mile drive).:-)

Hi, I'm a newbie.

Wondering if some of you could give me some advice on what to do.
My Live view button, playback button and menu button is not working. Ive changed my SD card thinking it might have been something to do with that but still hasn't resolved anything.
Ive been advised to restart my camera entirely as I might have done something to settings but to do that I need my menu button to work...
I have taken pictures, plugged SD card in to see if it actually taking pictures and it is!!! Which is good!!

Any advice????
