I have been trying to decide between buying a Canon 7D MK II or an Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 zoom. Currently I own a Canon 5D MKII and a variety of "L" lenses, including the 70-300mm. With its crop factor of 1.6, the 7D MKII would give me an equivalent 480mm which would be awesome.
On the other hand, I also have an Olympus OM-D EM-1 micro 4/3's that I use more & more, especially for vacation trips. Their 40-150 f/2.8 is equivalent to a 80-300 f/2.8 in 35mm ff camera's like the 5D MKII.
So I'm looking for opinions on what to do. Do I buy the Canon 7D MKii or the Olympus 70-150 f/2.8 (and probably the 1.4x extender).
Price wise it's about $1500 for the 7D MKII vs. $1750 for the lens and extender. It's not an insignificant amount, but it's not the primary consideration for me.
I love my Canon but it's a boat anchor compared to the Olympus. I rarely, if ever, make enlargements bigger than 8x12 so they both produce comparable prints. I primarily shoot nature, landscapes, wildlife and of course, vacation pictures.
I'm really interested in hearing different opinions, particularly from those who own both camera's.
Thanks
