I loved the grouse hunting in Oh when we had birds. Hearing them drumming is sure exciting. It amazes me to this day that they break the sound barrier with their wings when drumming. Have you ever walked into a clutch of babies? Like a bunch of big bumblebees buzzing around. Great pic you got there.

I hunt private land in Meigs County. Tried grouse a few times, but haven't shot any. I'll be down there in mid April photographing wildlife. I'm hoping to locate a drumming grouse. I jump a lot of them down there, and see them along the gravel roads.

Thanks. Yes, I've encountered grouse broods of all ages, I like your description of them as bumblebees! They've always been one of my favorite species.
