Hey all, I have been shooting some real estate here lately and the wifi function on the 6d comes in very handy. however, I get frequent disconnects when my phone sits idle for a few seconds turning the screen off which also shuts live view off. Ill turn the screen on and the connection will be lost. can anyone tell me if there is a setting that will keep it connected even if live view shuts off? I am using the Eos Remote app btw.

What kind of phone? And have you explored the phone settings that control, how long the screen stays active?

Droid Maxx. Yes I can keep it on longer if I set the screen duration to longer times. I just didn't know if there was another way of achieving this without having to constantly change the screen sleep time. I will often times pocket my phone as well while shooting if I need to adjust something. So naturally I torn the screen off while doing this.

There is an Android phone app called Stay Alive that can be configured to only keep the phone screen on when some other app, user selectable, is running. I've never tried it but from what I read its seems like it would work.

It is a battery saving feature on your phone. Android's long battery life claims and emphasis are partially driven by aggressively disabling power consuming parts of the phone such as the wifi. When the wifi is shut down the camera loses connection...and it will then immediately shut down to save its own battery. There isn't much you can do but keep the screen on which keeps the wifi active I don't think.
