Hello,

Got sick of carring few lenses during holidays. I am planing to buy new Tamron 28-300 mm f/3,5-6,3 Di VC PZD. But is quality is so so. What are other alternatives? I had Canon 28-300, but its weight was something out of this world.... In the market there is no other choise? Tammy or Canon 28-300L?

Ultra-zooms do tend to be poor optics, and any exceptions are costly and heavy.
If you could do it in two lenses, then you would be less weight, and better image quality.

I know this, but I want best and light compromise. So there is only two options (Tammy and Canon 28-300L)? :/

try the tamron, it's not like you have many options.

yes I know about 35-350, but it is quite rare. I think T28-300 + 50 1.2L or S35 1.4 which both I now own would be nice combo. Meanwhile to journeys I take 24-105L + something bright

I think you are looking for the mythical 16-300mm f/1.8 pancake lens that sells for $200. You'll find it in the aisle next to the unicorns.

Seriously, if you want to travel light and simple, you may want to invest in a 2nd camera to complement your 6D setup. A Rebel SL1, EOS M3 or some other brand mirrorless may not offer quite the image quality of your full frame, but it certainly will be lighter to carry.

I picked up a EOS M when Canon was having a its fire sale on their first attempt at mirrorless. The camera, 22mm f/2 pancake, EF-M 18-55mm, charger, extra battery and Speedlight 270 EX all fit in this (external link) small bag. While it cannot replace my 5D3 or 7D, it still can produce high quality images despite it's compromises. But life is full of compromises.

Canon used to make a EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM , but it gets bad reviews:

if you're willing to venture into different brands/formats, there are options.

path of least resistance is obviously canon/tamron 28-300. APS-C crop sensors have the 18-135, sigma 18-250?, tamron 16-300. Sony full frame has 24-240mm. Nikon full frame has the 28-300G. None are quite as large as the canon version, and likely none will match the optics. I think out of all the options, the nikon one looks quite good size wise, and optics wise.

I really think you'd be happier with a crop camera, 18-135, and 55-250. Even broader range, two lenses with big zoom range for minimal swapping, and a small light kit. I used to want a hyperzoom, then I got over it.

No, thanks, no new camera. Currently I have 1DX, 2 pcs 1D4, 7D2 and 6D :)) No more cameras ... Also have tons of TSe, L primes and best zooms, there is no chance to buy mirrorless :D

But what about a fixed lens super zoom compact? Theyre light, small, and dont cost as much as the Canon 28-300L...

Thinking of a PowerShot SX60 or panasonic equivs...

If you have that many cameras, L lens and best zooms - then what are you looking for? A do-all lens? And if you have that much experience with lens and cameras, you probably know a zoom such as you are searching for will be heavy and lack image quality of your current lens.

I resolved my weight issue by adding the SL1 with standard lens. It sure suits me when traveling light without sacrificing image quality and camera capabilities too much.

But I am addicted to full frame quality ...

BTW, returend form my shop tested Tamron 28-300 PZD against my 24-105 + 100-400. Strangely Tamron holds very well in 50-100-200-300 mm range, but on 28 mm it is simply BS, and wide is most used FL in journeys. So decided to stat with current setup.
