I think this is very cool, even if it is just a novelty at this point. And considering they're using 92 cameras, I think the pricing isn't insane.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

Given the amount of equipment cost I don't think the price is that crazy.

Hrm,

Nah, the figures look really low detail to me. I wouldn't want one.

I like the idea though. And it's done with cheap camera equipment, but good amounts of lighting equipment, so that's a plus (APS-C's with kit lenses).

Very best,

I thought the same thing, but if you get the 3D file to keep then in 10 years time you could get it printed when 3D printers are better in detail.

That would be neat if it were very detailed, very sharp.

Very best,

If you have the start-up capital, or can find investors to foot it for you, it's a fantastic start-up idea. To be the first in your city, region, or even state to offer this is guaranteed success. Low res, hi res, doesn't matter. There will ALWAYS be people willing to pay a mere $250 for a statue of their kid. Heck, people will pay that for a statue of their parakeet.

I agree these are awesome, they may be low res for now but I'd still like to have one and especially when Ihad younger children. The guy will make millions just off of franchises, he's done all the hard work perfecting the setup.

I wonder if having a few higher end cameras and lenses in the mix would increase the overall IQ much, even if it was just the front.

It reminds me of the CT scan that was taken of my teeth. I held still while the camera (just one) moved around. The results were used to make a 3D-printed surgical guide for the periodontist to place an implant exactly right.
