Consider a Meike MK600 ETTL (exact name). It does M flash, ETTL, HSS, Ext power and is a 'master' under Canon Wireless Light/IR type. If later on you go with Yn 622C, Yn 622-TX or Phottix Odin (my choice) triggers, it plays nicely with all of those. It's very similar to a 580ExII but lacks some CFns and is slightly slower to recycle. Long term reliability - unknown. I picked one up as a spare to my Canon Speedlites - so far, very pleasantly surprised!

I think I am getting 4 YN-560IVs and a transmitter. I probably don't need 4 since I will use all 4 at once probably 3 times, but having an extra cheap flash doesn't seem like a bad idea.

If anyone has a reason why I shouldn't do this, please reply.

Thanks for all the replies up to this point.

I kind of like the idea of the built in receivers, and knowing I can function well without TTL, it's just hard to choose. Will TTL save me in a situation where I need to move faster than I can manually adapt, or will it be the one time TTL is off?

Meike MK600 does look very nice.

Hi, There seem to be plenty of people who are very happy with their M only Yn 560 based setups.

I like an ETTL option. Given the requirements of a reflected light metering tech and the need to predict/use FEC, I find it super quick & useful. And I use my Odins set to M quite frequently too. At the moment, the Meike MK600 ETTL seems to be the cheapest entry ticket (with both HSS & Ext power) for use either with Yn 622Cs, Odins or standalone (longterm reliability unknown).

We're lucky, currently, to have several good options. Good luck.

How are the Meike MK600 ETTL's compared to YN568EXII's? Seem like the same price.

I'm in the same boat. That's why I like the Yongnuo 600 series. No separate transceiver (622) needed and it has the flexibility to do it all. If I have the time, I can use manual, if not E-TTL is easily accessible as is HSS. I currently have a mix of 580 and 568 speedlights with 622s and they are great. The 600 series is my next upgrade.

Seem very similar (Meike MK600 ETTL's compared to YN568EXII's?). They both offer HSS - the Meike MK600 ETTL adds an external power port - often needed when you're trying to use HSS.

So far, I like my Meike MK600 ETTL - but I've only had it for c5 weeks as a spare to my Canon Speedlites, so longterm reliability is unknown. Power, like for like, is identical to my 580ExIIs.

(Although I know my MK600 works with Odins, I've only seen this wrt use with Yn 622Cs:

There are two many options. I'll be reading and comparing for months. Then a project will creep up, and I'll say "shoot! I need stuff", and run out and buy the first thing I see, be frustrated because I've had 0 time to work the equipment, and generally fail.

How about this. What trigger works with every flash brand, for every option ETTL, HSS, etc, without a single misfire ever? That is what I will buy.

It seems a shame that the trigger for the Yongnuo 600 only works with the YN600 and the Canon equivalent.

There is a YN600-EX-RX receiver that will trigger other flashes/strobes.

Thanks Inksta. I'm trying to get my head around all the different part numbers and what does what. It looks like in the link above, the YNE3-RX on works with ETTL flashes. So that is good, but I will have manual flashes as well. I also thought there was a "transceiver" that works both ways, but does that do both manual and ETTL? Is there an option to run mixed flashes? In a way, I wouldn't mind having a couple of flashes that do HHS, etc, I don't know how many systems that will entail. Even the havoc reviews aren't really clear on what everything does. I wish I could call the manufacturer to clear it all up.

I think both systems (622 & 600) will support remote manual or remote ETTL and also mixed modes. I think your only decision is whether or not you want an extra unit hanging off the bottom of your speedlights (ie;622 system).
