I went out this morning in search of some lizards. Well, I found a few but not exactly what I was looking for.

Gila Monster (this was a young one. Less than 10" long I bet) One of 2 venemous lizards in the world. The other is in Mexico and closely resembles the Gila Monster.

Collared Lizard ( I think this is an immature male but I'm not sure) The white on its nose is salt. Also, I'm really Lichen that rock.

First, great shots. Second, you have no idea how jealous I am that you can leave your house and find lizards! Very cool.

Exactly, on both counts. Very nice captures indeed.

Here in Oklahoma the "collared lizard" is known as a "moumtain boomer". A much mre colorful name befiting a colorful critter. It's also the official state lizard. The male usually has a turquoise head and the female just has a colorful ring around her neck. I'm not sure if an immature male has a turquoise head.

Ive been told that is a young male. I have some shots of the mature males.
