I picked up a couple of free Tamron adaptall lenses over the weekend both with Pentax K mounts. The first is a 28mm f2.5, which from what I have read isn't bad, and the other is a 80-210mm f3.8-4. I am going to buy an adaptor, but I'm not sure if I should go with an adaptall to EOS, or if I should go for a Pentax K to EOS? Anybody have any thoughts?

The 28mm does has a little lever on the back for aperature and I was thinking that maybe a Pentax to EOS adaptor would give me a little more clearance. Anybody have any experience adapting these lenses?

I use a lot of different Adaptall lenses on my 7D and 6D, including the two that you have mentioned. I'm not following the reason for the "Pentax to EOS" scenario. Just remove the Pentax mount and replace it with the EOS mount. The beauty of the Adaptall system is that you start with a generic lens that can be mounted to any camera body by using the applicable adapter. I purchased the "EMF AF Confirm Tamron Adaptall 2 Lens to Canon EOS EF Adapter" from Ebay seller "big_is" in November of 2013 and am happy with the results. It works on all of my lenses - no issues.

Heya,

If they are Adaptall 2 with PK mounts, just pull off the PK mounts. Get an Adaptall 2 to EOS ring. And you're done. I use a Fotodiox Adaptall 2 to EOS and it's great. I say that because why have a lens that is adaptall 2 converting to PK and converting it back to EOS with two adapters? When you could use just one adapter.

Very best,

Thank you, I was concerned about the little lever on the back clearing the mirror and was thinking that a second adaptor would help clear it. Looks like I'm good to go.
