No it wont on the 7D, I use it by manually focusing . I'm a pretty big guy and I can man handle it, but it can get pretty jittery at the long end with the 1.4 handheld. I am not sure if it will on the 7DII. I keep the 100-400II + 1.4II on my my 7DII as well and it AF. I always reach for the 7D when I need more reach than the 7DII And 100II +1.4II can provide.

I get sharp images with the 7D combination, but in the picture above I actually softened the Cardinal for the soft and dreamy look to go with the texture.
