Here's a Tufted Titmouse, seems like we have an abundance of them around our house. Fast little dudes! Hopefully, I can venture out away from the house with this new lens, the weather has been wet and cloudy for days.

Edit: I suggest you Not install this new Firmware - various users including myself experience the AF point jumping erratically, plus other issues.

Cool, it was already really good once I used the USB dock to set the OS mode to dynamic.

Not updated my lens yet - I currently have my C1 set to Moderate View Mode for the OS which I think is fantastic. Be interesting to see how the update can improve on this..

Updated the firmware this morning.

At first I thought the C1 switch was broken, I've assigned that switch to Moderate View Mode. On initial testing it would appear the OS did not make any difference at all, as if it's not working. Confused I set C2 to the same setting, again no difference.

After a reset I set C1 and C2 switches to "Moderate View Mode" still no OS.

Ok, this time I set C1 to "Dynamic View Mode" and C2 to "Standard" OS works again..

It would appear "Moderate View Mode" no longer works after this firmware

Anyone confirm before I email Sigma and tell them this Firmware is Broken?

Contacted Sigma Imaging UK -

Initial reply:

"When the OS is customised to moderate view mode it is very difficult to see the OS working through the viewfinder. The OS is more effective but less visible. In dynamic mode it is less effective but more visible and in standard mode it is somewhere in the middle."

Which I think is incorrect according to the OS Mode description:

Moderate View Mode

"This mode offers excellent compensation of camera shake and achieves very smooth transition of the image in the viewfinder. The composition of the image remains natural even when the angle of viewing keeps changing."

My concern has been forwarded to the Japan office.

Received an answer back from Sigma Japan..

"OS operation in Moderate mode may not look as strong as former version, but the actual effectiveness is still very good, and it will be reflected in the better image quality ultimately.
So I guess his lens is not defect. Please inform the customer to set Standard or Dynamic mode in this case."

They forgot to mention that it warrants another feature useless, I'm so annoyed I upgraded!

I updated the firmware,definite improvement to the OS I would say,I never quite knew if it was working at all before,works in all modes because I can hear it working,granted the moderate mode doesn't seem to do much but I don't use that.
