I updated the firmware, definite improvement to the OS I would say,I never quite knew if it was working at all before, works in all modes because I can hear it working, granted the moderate mode doesn't seem to do much but I don't use that.

I also took the update, I believe it made things worse. Everything works as it should, once I release the shutter say in fast mode than lift my finger off the button after getting the shot the view through the viewfinder jumps one way or another, to the point of taking the subject out of view. Hope this makes sense.

Yes agreed you can hear the OS working but I believe it's less visible in the viewfinder which is a must!

I find the fastest focusing mode to be a bit severe and jumpy so I don't use that so I have C1 set to Dynamic OS and standard focusing and C2 set to standard OS and slower focusing,I can see the OS working in the viewfinder better than it was before,I used to check the switch in case I'd accidentally switched it off.The OS is still not as visible in the viewfinder as it is with my old Sigma 150-500.

I'll have a play - Currently moved away from Moderate View Mode to Dynamic with Fast Focusing..

Here's an image from today since it's the 1st Day of Spring. :-)

Right,I've just done some testing with with my 70D,I've been using the lens with my Eos R,( the OS is on permanently with these Canon Mirrorless cameras). The Dynamic OS does seem to have a kick to it as described by the other chap and fast focusing seems OK without the dynamic OS,I've dropped the Dynamic OS from my set up, the standard OS is good enough but as I said doesn't quite have the lock of my old 150-500 so now I have C1 with standard OS and fast focusing and C2 with standard OS and smooth focusing,Maybe they'll come up with some new firmware soon.

I honestly believe it's broken - In Dynamic View | Fast focusing & every time I release the shutter the view jumps up "Can't be right".

As I mentioned, previously I was using Moderate View Mode - That tip came from Chris Frost on YouTube - Link to time stamp on his video - https://youtu.be/WoOY5vIoBpE?t=331 (external link) but it' no longer works..

Moderate View Mode description:

"This mode offers excellent compensation of camera shake and achieves very smooth transition of the image in the viewfinder. The composition of the image remains natural even when the angle of viewing keeps changing."

I never had a problem until I took the last update. It sitll works but it's very distracting. I sent Sigma an email, we'll see what they have to say.

Good call, I'd recommend anyone with similar problems to send Sigma an E-Mail..

I contacted the following - service@sigma-imaging-uk.com

I myself already did and my reply:

"OS operation in Moderate mode may not look as strong as former version, but the actual effectiveness is still very good, and it will be reflected in the better image quality ultimately.
So I guess his lens is not defect. Please inform the customer to set Standard or Dynamic mode in this case."

Sometimes it's difficult to get close to your subject so I use the beauty of nature to frame the subject.

If you look closely you can see the Vapor coming from the dipper :-)

Image jump after the firmware update....I thought I was imagining things, or that my technique had suddenly gone wrong.

In a way, I am pleased to see that this really is due to the firmware update and not my technique.

Yep indeed it does - I've sent Sigma Service a 2nd e-mail and pointed them in the direction of this thread..

A short walk this lunch time.

Very nice Martin, was the shot taken handheld? The reason I ask is, I also went out this morning, had really clear skies and kept the sun to my back and didn't even get one keeper. Last time I did this I had at least six or eight out of twenty. All this after the update. Now I wondering if I need to micro adjust the autofocus.

Thanks,
Harry

could be the case . if it's upgraded the definition of the lens there's more chance for errors to show up
