This is a photograph of my 3rd great grandfather, David Lewis (1794-1884) before I edited it and after I tried to do a colorized version. I'm not totally satisfied with the hair but overall, I thought it turned out OK.

Really nice, and fully within the original spirit of colourised photographic images from the later part of the Nineteenth Century. I might have been tempted to go with a brighter colour for the neck tie, probably a bottle green, that seems to have been a very popular colour at that time. If one looks at some of the original work from that period.

Great idea, thanks very much. I've now made that change on the edit above. I'm still not totally satisfied with the hair yet. Oh, he was a Deacon so I didn't want to go too bright with the tie.
