Hi all. Anyone know of a case for the 580EX that has a belt loop?
Looking for something with a good fit the way a Tamrac or Lowepro type lens case fits a lens.
I just searched the B&H site but couldn't find one that's a good fit.
Thanks.
Jack

Maybe a Point & Shoot Camera one?

Just out of curiosity...why do you want/need one anyway? They work better on the camera. ;) :p

hi cdi. Yeah, I looked at all the point and shoot cases but couldn't find one that's a nice fit.
And yes, I know it works better on the camera. LOL
But sometimes I'd like to have it with me just in case it's needed, but don't want it mounted on the camera. I have a Tamrac belt which is really nice, so I'm looking for a case I can use with it.
Maybe I should be looking at a POTN vest instead.
Thanks for the reply! :-)

I have a Lowepro Sliplock Pouch 50AW, which will take a 580EX, a couple of sets of batteries and a StoFen Omnibounce.

Hi Dave. Yeah, I saw that one, but still not quite what I'm looking for.
Thanks! :-)

You want more like something that the 580EX comes with, except with a belt loop, right?

Makes me wonder...are you any good at sewing? You could probably get a wide nylon strap from a local sewing shop and stitch a belt loop onto your 580EX soft case.

Er, how about a Tamrac medium accessory pocket (Model number MX5384, see www.tamrac.com (external link))? It is probably a bit large even for 580 EX - I have a 420EX and it fits there with the Sto-fen omni bounce and it has still extra space. The good thing is that you won't have to pry it out. The attachment system is nice and sturdy, it will keep the pocket tightly close to the belt (rather than let it dangle), which is nice. It is quick to access, holds close well, and quick to attach to the belt (unlike conventional loops). I have two of these pockets, and use them as an extension to my tamrac expedition 5 backpack (to store and carry accessories and the flash unit) as well as for keeping the data bank on my belt in concerts.

Yep, saw that one too, but it's still too small for the 580 (the 580 is about 2 1/2 inches thick).
Thanks! :-)

Looks like I found one....
Lightware GS301. Just about a perfect fit.

Thanks all! :-)

I leave mine on the camera but turned off, since then I can turn it on quickly if I need it.
