Lightroom 6 Upgrade

So I am a subscriber to Adobe CC, I'm curious about the new Lightroom 6...will be available only on its own, or can I update my LR5 to 6 once its available? Can't find a clear answer anywhere.

Although nobody outside Adobe can say definitely, about a year ago an Adobe spokesman said that there are no plans to change the Lightroom licensing arrangements - namely that there are two parallel versions, one a perpetual (one time purchase) version and the other a monthly/yearly rental, the former being updated at roughly 3 month intervals and the latter being updated as soon as updates are ready and perhaps containing features that the perpetual version does not have. Since then there has been no further official statement of a change in policy (but lots of unofficial speculation and rumors). So as far as we know, you will be able to purchase a perpetual license for LR6 and if you have a perpetual license to LR5 or older, it will be at a discounted upgrade price. If you presently have LR5 as part of a rental subscription, the transition to LR6 will be automatic and part of your subscription.

I'm curious about this too. No news of LR6 recently, in February, I read it was going to be released in mid to late March.

I googled LR6 release date this morning and got a hit on Fuji Rumors - an April 3 post said the release date was leaked as being April 21, but I have not seen this info anywhere else.

It was supposed to be an April 1 posting, but like the mythical LR6 release itself it was somewhat delayed.

Allegedly it is coming today, 21 April 2015. Scott Kelby is having a presentation on his website at 12 noon Eastern to showcase it.

My CC manager still thinks 5.7 is the latest version and I've quit the app and restarted the app a few times.

Try a reboot, it showed up for me.

Just did a reboot and still shows Lr 5.7 as lastest. The Photoshop updates popped up though.

LR CC downloaded for me then failed to install. I rebooted and now it doesn't show up....PS update does. Maybe the Adobe servers are getting pounded and they took it down for a while...

LR CC does show up on their website now...

LR6 in the "box" will not update per Scott Kelby on his webinar

I'm happy Adobe is giving us the new Lightroom as part of the photography CC bundle. Knowing most companies these days it would have been released separately. Nothing has popped up for me but most likely server overload for new version. Excited to try out all the new features!

EDIT: Just restarted my computer and my Creative Cloud updated, downloading new Lightroom as we speak.

I agree with you, its very nice to see companies being loyal to their customers. Gestures like this will keep me around.... and Im also downloading as we speak.
