I keep hiding stickies in various sections to find that after some time, they are all listed again. Can anyone explain why?

Same here. I used to think it was a timer (a week or so), but no longer. Is it possible they pop back up when one of the stickies is updated with a new post?

... another inquiring mind would like to know.

Sticky status is stored in a cookie. Cookies are separate for each browser and device, so the setting is different for every one of them. Maybe that's the issue...

In future versions the sticky setting will be stored "globally" in server, and no cookies are used for it. Also, you can set it separately for each forum. Things will improve :)

It would be great if you could also store the setting for sub-forum collapse on the server instead of in a cookie Pekka.

Hmm, I've used the same browser (FF) on the same machine, for quite some time.

I know I have logged in via my laptop a few times, which would have had different settings I suppose, but would that cause my desktop to somehow revert? [I doubt it.]

I'd like more of the settings to be stored on the server side, so that no matter where I logged in, I'd get the same experience.... I know "more" isn't quantitative - that was on purpose ;) since I don't know what those would be.

I use only one device and only Firefox, and I never delete AMASS! cookies. My stickies jump out of hiding every few days.

Same here. I view POTN on FF (only) on a desktop, and on no other device. I don't clear cookies. Yet, the stickies behavior seems variable. Sometimes they stay hidden for a few days then pop up, at other times longer.

Still, Pekka said things will change and be better, so I'll wait. Other than the stickies and one other design flaw, POTN is working pretty good for me now and I'm enjoying it.

Do you ever run a disc clean-up program? These things can crumble cookies unless you specifically tell them which ones to keep. Also some protection software suites will run these programs automatically unless you tell them not to.

Are you sure that your security suite doesn't? Mine does. I had to exclude the cookies that I didn't want deleted manually.

Mark, what do you mean by "security suite"? I use a MacBook. My cookies accumulate. Sometimes I go through them and delete the ones that crept in when I looked at some site or other and the ones whose names imply a connection with advertising: "doubleclick" and all that.

Oh, I was referring to anti-virus software such as Norton, MacAfee, Kaspersky, et al. These packages are much more than anti-virus these days. They include backup, clean-up, performance enhancements, and much more.

Since you are using a Mac, you may not have or need a security suite but we PC-users have to have them.

That's what I thought you meant, just never saw them called "suites" before. Yes, the Mac makes these unnecessary.

Net result: I haven't identified anything at my end that might account for the undead stickies.
