My dad has asked me for help tracking down an easy program for him to use. Years ago he used a program he called "Roxio Easy Media Creator" I Google that but did not find what it sounded like he used.

He plans to use it for vacation photos. So simple drag and drop or loading the photos into the program, arranging them on a time line and adding some music. He would like to also add video files into the slideshow. Bonus if it allows the addition of motion to panoramas but that's not a deal breaker.

Alright what are the recommendations for this, simplicity is key.

He may have been thinking of Windows Photo Gallery. Google it and see if that is what he was using or go to link below.

Serif MoviePlus X6 will do all of that. Here's an example I did with the previous version X5 https://www.youtube.com …piyEj6DM&feature=youtu.be (external link)

They do a freebie version which I think is based on X5 worth a look.

Corel Video Studio Pro - X7 is last year, X8 is current. Do a search as Dell has X7 for $40 USD. New X8 is $80 USD.

Nope, didn't loose sight of that, but look at what you would like the software to do. Corel Video Studio fits your stated wishes and it is not difficult to use. While CVS has more than your wish list you don't have to use every function - the ones you listed are easy to use.

Regarding Corel Video Studio X7 (or X8), let's see how it fits your list.

"He plans to use it for vacation photos."
Check, would work great. While not my vacation pics, here are some from from a trip to the botanic gardens. This is a very simple, easy to make slide show I made so my dad could see some of Dale Chihuly's works in the late autumn:

https://vimeo.com/113514893 (external link)

"So simple drag and drop or loading the photos into the program,..."
Check. Copy the pics to a new folder and have CVS load all of them into your project media library. Select an image and drag-drop onto the timeline.

"...arranging them on a time line..."
Check. From simple timing and transitions to control over individual elements (images, effects, transitions, text).

"...adding some music..."
Check. Add music to the media library then drag-drop to the music track of the timeline. Simple editing is also available. Try listening to the free music that Eric Matyas has made available to the forum members (there is a separate thread on his contributions) - great stuff. (Be sure to credit his work per his terms of use.)

"...add video files into the slideshow..."
Check. Add your video files to the media library then drag-drop to the timeline.

"...motion to panoramas..."
Check. Number of effects available as "stock" including the pan function. In the Chihuly link above see that fx for the Float Boat (03:41).

GEWB

I would recommend FastStone Image Viewer. It's free, it works very well and it is really easy to use.

Movie Maker from Windows, Photo Gallery also works.

But if you are looking for super simpler try PhotoStory http://www.microsoft.com …oad/details.aspx?id=11132 (external link)

I teach the use of that software in under 30 minutes to grades 2-4 with great results. The more advanced stuff can be learned in slightly more time by anyone. This does it the simple, free model you asked for and hits most of the requirements.

I'd advise a web-based program: ProShow Web (external link)

If his shows are all 15 images or less, it's free.
