We had a few little hatchlings on our property today. Not sure what kind of bird it is, but it was quite a commotion with the kids wanting to pet it. Would be nice to know what kind of bird this is:

I hope they survived. There are stray cats, snakes and coyotes around here. I've seen the cats eat the birds. After a few days I saw the parent "looking" for the chics, it was walking around and making the same calls when it was guiding the chic when I was taking the photo.
