Hello, I recently found out about this holster, how well does it function and hold out against other companies that uses similar methods to latch the camera?

SYS Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 06, 2015 09:19 | #2 I own one and it's well made. However, in my experience with it, it's only good for a light gear. I tried to use it with my 5D3 and 70-200L but I gave up after awhile. You CAN, but that doesn't mean it's effective. It now collects dust, I'm afraid. I now use Cotton Carrier Vest with either Think Tank Speed Pro or Steroid Belt.

Well... I have a 5Diii. So I'm not sure if it would be right with it.

I use it attached to the shoulder strap of my Tamrac expedition bag at chest level. I carry 2 bodies. One with a longer zoom (recently the 100-400 with the 1.4x attached) and another with a standard zoom or wide angle lens attached. I usually carry the longer lens in my hands while walking/hiking and the shorter lens stays in the capture pro but I do walk for periods with the longer/heavier lens sitting in the capture pro. The Capture pro seems to get mixed reviews with DSLR users depending on where and to what the user attaches it. On the strap of my Tamrac the fit is very strong and as a result there is almost no movement, play or opportunity for sagging or shifting and so I'm completely satisfied with it as a device to hold a body. The construction is very solid and the mechanism is reliable. I can make any kind of movement without fear of my camera coming free from the device unless I want it to. If I were you I would give it a try. If it works for you it is probably going to work extremely well. The one you linked to has the pro plate at 79$ and change but you can get the exact same device with one of the older plates (If you only need an ARCA plate for example) for about 10$ cheaper. I think they distribute through B&H as well. Sometimes not taking a photograph can be as problematic as taking one. - Alex Webb
