Lake Vyrnwy Straining Tower

I've been to this location many times, but this was the first time I went to this particular, higher, vantage point - very pleased I did:

I've read so many books that things like "the rule of thirds" stick out to me.

I said that to say this..... I like the composition of both photographs very much. The Straining Tower jumps out at me in both shots, in a good way. I think you got the light just right.

I showed them to my wife and said: there aren't many landscapes that catch my eye or hold my attention. These two photographs do.

Both are very well done. However, I think I like the first image better.

I too am aware of the "rule of thirds" and was equally aware when trying to compose the above image (and later in post crop) - but the view just did not lend itself to that theory.

I ended up trying to balance the near tree on the left and the shrubbary on the right to frame it (had little leeway to move myself left ot right) and just tried to hit a balance.

The first image is my fave, but I added the second to give a little more detail of the architechtural subject (which in its self is quite picturesk).

Now I know of that location, I'll have to return on a windless day and hopefully catch a full reflection.
