I like the first one best, but it is really not enough difference in the skin tones to really tell at that size of an image.

I think correcting the white balance on the blue tree trunks would make more difference to the appearance of the two people than the slight variation in the warmth of the skin tone.

Eyes but then I had to adjust a bit as it came out too yellow / red

Will try that. But the trees do look natural to me..

I am unfamiliar with any type of tree with blue-green bark. What type of tree is it so I can Google it and see other photos of that type of tree.

I did one click with the eyedropper in ACDsee and found this to look more like what I'd expect if there was a hint of sun out. I am guessing that this cool shot was taken on a grey overcast day though, so maybe not natural.

The little girls hand by the way looks nearly smurf like blue to me in the above posts. Led me to believe something was amiss. Turns out it's still blue in mine, must be due to light reflection off the jeans jacket. Could be my monitor though I'll be interested what others think, as mine is a lot warmer than yours.

Hmm, the faces in this edit look too magenta / red to me, perhaps it's time to recalibrate my monitor...

The blue in her hand is a vein, visible when I zoom in.

What about this one, any better ?

The edit by CDS is far superior, but even that still has the blue-green tree bark.

Kind of tough to pick out which is best. They're all plausible and can't really say one is badly done.

For me, CDS' version, absolutely, maybe with a little less saturation.

Getting skin tones right in shots taken in the shade of trees has always been a pain to me.

CDS's version absolutely. It could be personal taste, but more likely you need to calibrate your monitor.

I am really interested in monitor/colour calibration.
I have spent many a happy hour tuning pictures on my lap top only to find the colours look off when viewed on another screen.

I don't want to hijaak this thread but, none the less, it may be a calibration difference that is causing the op problems.

Can anyone help me or point me to a thread covering colour calibration?

My thanks in advance.

Yet another opinion and interpretation with some numbers to look at.

Just checking out the skin tones I think all of your edits so far have too
much blue/cyan in them, the 1st and very last re-edit being the closest
to acceptable but no global edit will fix things overall. Probably need to
attack some areas differently with some masks or creative brushing.

Your 1st image with just a global curves adj. layer added to attack the blues and reds:
I'm not looking at anything else but the marker between her eyes, your numbers on the left, new numbers on the right.

In CyberDyneSystems' edit, looks a lot better but I think he has too much magenta/red in there:
This one I took CDS's image and made some edits:
