Red squirrels are amazing to watch, however they are sadly on the decline here in the UK due to the grey squirrel, which is larger and much more effective at gathering food. There are a few projects trying to increase their numbers with varying success, however based on the Forestry Commission website there are only around 140,000 of them left in Britain.
It just makes them even more special to watch and photograph, especially when there are two chasing each other around trees.
Any feedback on the photos below would be appreciated. I am not sure I can make some of them too much brighter without increasing the noise.
The first image has had a bit of work done to it to clone out branches and has come out better than I expected.
With the last image the squirrel really was upside down and performed acrobatics for us for about 20 minutes.
