This is one of the babies. The nest is in a nook in a tree, a little lower then this shot. They don't prefer this spot in the tree, but seeing as this is in better light then the other spot. I was there for many hours, just for a few shots like the first few shots, but I still only managed 2 in one shot on this side. A later shot, you'll see later, I got all 3 in one shot... barely.

This is the male, sitting in a nearby tree ready to pounce on any would be assassins.

It's not the greatest shot. There is a lot of light and shadow. If you look close the third baby is on the bottom middle of the 2 bigger babies. It is the same nest jst a different angle. You can actually see the nest material here.

Another shot just for posterity. This is just to show the size difference. One is obviously a runt, or born much later. Poor thing.

I think that non-bird-shooters see a great series like this and often think that we just show up at the birds' "address", shoot, & leave. You obviously needed tremendous patience for these; well done!

Thanks everyone.

Yes Neophyte52, it was a lot of wait and see. I got there at 7:30am and the shots in 1, 3,4,5 I got at 9:30 through 2:30pm. They would walk up to that spot stretch, and then go back down. The last 2 shots is the main part of the nest, which is about a foot lower then the ledge in the first few shots. If you look at shot #6 the ledge is about the adult females beak level. So the babies have to climb up there, when they "feel like it", and they only would go up there for a minute or 2. But I felt it was worth the wait for better composition, and light.
