Shane,
Image #1 has potential. Did you shoot this scene any wider? Any closer? The moss-covered wall can either be a distractor or an enhancer. The current position, for me, is that it is a distractor. An off angle and not one that leads the viewer into the image. If the scene were shot with more of the wall, so as to lead the viewer along the wall and up to the fall, it could be a winner. :)

Image #2 does not do anything for me. If there is a subject (focal point) for the image, I am not seeing what that may be.

Elements abstracted from their surroundings. Four blocks of color and texture in the first, although the white is almost plain white. Abstracts are more painstaking than pictorials; little changes make them work or fall flat. I agree with Pete. The green triangle in the foreground throws me off. But I like the novel view. Thanks for sharing.
