What is your favorite lens and why.....

Mine is my 35 1.4.....it is my all purpose lens. I like the way it captures people and the environment they are in within the same frame.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

depends on the situation: for portraits definitely my 135mm f2/L and for general purpose the 70-200 f2.8 IS mk2 but when too tired to lug this heavy beast around, then the all purpose 24-70 f4/L but I find it meh ;)

My favorite lens has to be the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8, because it is the most fun to play with. It is followed closely by the Sigma 15mm FE.

Right now I'm digging my 100L. Super sharp and a good choice in my daily bag that also includes my 40STM and flash.

Heya,

Ugh, it's so hard to choose.

I routinely shoot with my Helios 44-2 and Samyang 85 F1.4 and I love these two lenses so much.

But I also shoot with my 200 F2.8L and my Tamron 150-600 nearly as often.

Probably going to go with the Samyang 85 F1.4. It's my go to for portrait and candid which I do a ton of with my daughter right now.

Very best,

My favourite lens? Usually the one I left at home.

1Dx - 5DIII - 40D - Canon 24-70LII, 100L macro, 135L, 16-35L, 70-200 f4 and 100-400L lenses

- "Very good" is the enemy of "great." Sometimes we confuse the two.

Back about three years ago I acquired a 100-400 because I wanted to use it mostly for sporting events. I ended up using it for much more than that, Wildlife, Zoos, Airshows, Landscapes….After the new 100-400 came out I knew it would be just that much better of a lens.
As it is much better without a doubt, out of all my lenses the 100-400 is my fav, I have a couple close seconds with one being a 50 f1.4 with how creative you can be with it's DOF. I think that I would love the 135 f2.0 as well, the other is my the 16-35 f2.8 II, so there you have it my fav lens + a couple other mentions..

DON' DO IT! G.A.S will get you!

Until December of 2013, I was quite happy shooting my 60D/15-85. Then I bought a 6D. I already had a 35 IS. Seeing what f/2 on a full-frame could do got me started. Since then I have purchased 14mm f/2.8, 15mm FE, 28mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2, AND I liked 70-200 so much more on full-frame that I traded my f/2.8 OS for an f/4 IS USM so I could carry it with me more often.

Your apsc body and 15-85 are only the "its just a little weed" to get you into the habit.... uh, I mean hobby. At your weakest moment, when you think you may want to try something a bit "different", they unleash the big guns. A full frame sensor/fast prime combination is the heroin/cocaine speedball of the photographic world. Try it just once, and you'll be hooked. I AM WARNING YOU. Grab you wallet and run!

It is most likely already too late. You may have already succumbed to the lure of "full frame". If you have, the only way to appease the Canon-Devil is to lead others into the same morass. Start posting your "Amazed by full frame" threads as soon as you can. It is the only way.

I hope you enjoyed this half as much as you will enjoy your new full frame and fast prime. Happy Shooting!

Depends...

Daughter portraits- 85mm 1.2L
Racetrack- 100-400mm v2
Vacation- 16-35mm f/4L

Looking around my office, those 3 lenses look to be what is producing the wall hangers for me.

But- I find the lens most fun to use is the 8-15L. Going into a basketball/football stadium and getting the whole thing in one shot gives a cool perspective.

135mm f2 all day long! It was my favourite lens before I even owned one. I just borrowed one for an hour or so, and that was it... LOVE! Lol
