I don't know about favorite but this is the breakdown for number of exposures that made it off the card with each lens, since I have been shooting digital.

1, Sigma 28-300: 14730 (this is my pretty much use it outdoors lens)

2, Canon 100-400 MK 1: 5237 (this lens was rented on two occasions for a total three days at airshows)

3, Sigma 20-40 f/2.8 EX DG: 4762 (this is my "Normal lens")

4, Tamron 150-600 VC: 2284 (rented once for one day at airshow)

5, Canon 75-300 USM III: 1461 (bundled with 300D and lost after about two years, replaced with Sigma 28-300)

6, Canon 18-55 USM MK 1: 1438(300D kit lens, Japan spec USM version with special Jessops black 300D specia, superceeded by Sigma 20-40l)

7, Centon 500mm f/8 Mirror lens: 1259 (probably a Samyang)

The rest were test shots in shops or at shows etc.

8, Sigma 70-300: 24

9, Unknown 170-500 f/5-6.3: 6 (A new lens tested at Jacobs 24/11/2007)

10, Tamron 16-300 VC: 4

11, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary: 3

12 Zeiss Planar T* 50 f/1.4 ZE: 2

13 Zeiss Otus 55 f/1.4 ZE: 2

I guess that the most impressive lens of all of those that I have used have to be the last two. Looking through and also the feel of the 50 planar was absolutely astounding, much like when looking through a Zeiss spotting scope. I would have suggested it was certainly the best 50mm lens I have ever seen. Then to be handed the Otus, I think it well deserves the title of best lens in an EF mount ever. I always liked 50mm from my early film days when I had a 50mm and a 135mm lens on an old M42 Praktica Nova B. Give me a 5DS with EG-s focus screen and a 55 Otus and I would be a very happy man indeed. Well as long as I can keep my 50D and a Sigma 150-600 C for the airshows.

My main lens is my EF 24mm L f1.4 II, i'm trying to decide on a 50mm lens after giving my 50 1.2 to my son, I have my 35mm L f1.4 in the box, I thought I would like it on Full Frame but I dont, so I will sell that to possibly try the Sigma 50mm art lens, heard good things about that, but for now the 24mm does everything I need.

Has to be the 135L and 50 ART. An amazing combo for me personally so it would be a tough choice to choose one or the other.

Whatever super zoom I own at the time. They may not be as sharp as a prime but they are versatile & get me the images I want. That said most have proven to be sharper than most people on forums think they can be because they either haven't tried them or have poor technique. Worst super zoom I've used to date (re IQ) was the Nikon 28-300 but I was being very picky when evaluating it.

I use the 24-105 by far the most but the Zeiss 100 Makro is by far the most fun
