Hi,

Indian classical music and dance is a display of emotion, not technique. The technique has to be mastered first, till it becomes a habit. Technique is used as a tool to convey the emotions successfully.
I am sharing a few pictures where I tried to capture the essence of the art. Hope you like them...

Not really feeling either of these.

On the first the WB looks off and the second is just not a process I enjoy.

Do you have any others from this set for comparison?

Hi Benon,
Thanks for your honest feedback. The white balance on the first one is exactly how it was in reality. You may have to experience something close to this in real life to be able to relate to.

Regards,
Sharad

Hi Sharad. I love India and all its colour. The first photograph you have posted is very colourful. I know the subject can be difficult to light. I feel disappointed with the arraignment on this one. I hate to be negative, but the bottom has been cut off and it looks cramped. Don't give up on this subject because when you get it right you will have a wonderful picture. Keep trying, my friend.

Digital cameras don't get the white balance correct which is why most digital photos have to be white balanced post-production. I too agree the composition of the first shot is off a bit, if the subject's right hand was not cut off the shot would be better. You could possibly crop it to a Portrait shot for improvement to have less black blank space in the shot. This is Not to say this is a bad shot, the color is bold and can probably be corrected for white balance easily. The second shot is missing a lot of shadow detail and has too much blank space in the shot for my taste. Please take the critique constructively, nobody here is trying to discourage you, on the contrary, the comments are there to help make your shots better. A good friend of mine's daughter does this type of dance and it's awesome to watch.

Here is your shot with very minimal white balance correction and cropped differently. You may or may not like what has been done and please accept my apology if you don't like it let me know and I will take it down.
