these 2 set-ups are very functional and allow critical precision focusing especially when using live view. Canon FD auto bellows with a cheap FD-EOS adapter with the optics removed, setup #1. primarily i shoot with the Canon 100mm macro with reversed 50mm f1.4 which fits just inside the lens hood, setup #2. for now i use 50mm f1.4 forward/reversed with bellows in conjunction with, 135mm f2.5, 70-210mm f4. however, these are not true macro lenses and at extreme magnification display coma which reduces image sharpness and resolution. trying to get FD 50mm & 100mm macros. waiting for the 35mm f2.8 photomacrography bellows lens. in process of redesigning setup to be more readily field deployable spring is in the air. ATPIT can achieve 3.5:1 will get to 6:1 with 35mm and 12:1 with 20mm photomacrography lenses respectively.

Hello & WELCOME to the forum RH! :D
Those two set ups look quite functional. Care to elaborate on lens & bellows adaptations? I see you have a focus rail too. ;)

Canon FL Macro Bellows unit?

EDIT: Oh, beat me 2 it... never mind.

Based on some of the rigs here. My question is what position is best for the flash? Above or either side?

QUOTED IMAGE

I normally position flash about 10 o'clock and slightly behind front of lens. Flash needs diffusing.

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to get the 2 Wimberly F-2 Flash Brackets to sit 2 580 Exs.

1 would be connected to the hot shoe via Canon OC E 3 and another triggered via master-slave function.

Any thoughts on this bracket ? not the cheapest of items on the market.

here is a link to the Wimberly web page http://www.tripodhead.com …racket-macro-brackets.cfm (external link)

Here's my humble rig.

Pentax 50mm f1.7 lens mounted onto £5 extension tubes. Works pretty well for me:
