My 1:1 Hand Held Macro Rig...

. 5DMkII
. 100L
. 580EXII
. Styrofoam diffuser
. Kaiser adjustable flash shoe
. Paramount custom sync cable
. Olympus hand strap

How I Shoot Wild Flowers and Larger Insects...

. Manual/Manual
. Live view...no mirror slap
. 3 frame continous burst
. 1/200s flash sync
. f8,f11,f16...1/16,1/8,1/4 approx.flash power w/14mm wide panel
. ISO100

I do not sacrifice shutter speed, aperture or ISO to prevent black backgrounds or black holes, but rather; use a 4x5 print behind the subject to reflect light back to the sensor. I have an assortment of prints to match a particular scene.

Nice forum to share info...thanks for the opportunity!

Ron

Sweet and simple setup. Love to see some of the results. Oh, and welcome to POTN! :)

If you have the photos hosted somewhere else, you can enclose the URL of the image within the appropriate IMG tags like this:

[IMG][COLOR="Blue"]http://image_url_here.jpg[/COLOR][/IMG]

Check out this: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157706

Max image size around 1200px I think. Post it in the macro photo sharing section. Looking forward to it.

I have not posted anything online that would do IQ justice to my serious shots and don't care to do so. I would think that this forum would not be so stingy with the px allowance...a shame. Ron

You don't think that 1200px wide version adequately does your images justice? You can provide links to bigger versions if you like.

Using the following gear:
1 x MT24ex with 2 x mini-tripods - newly acquired - currently without flash diffusers
1 x 100mm F2.8 USM Macro - sometimes with a 58mm CPL
1 x 40D - I use the Live View mode quite alot! - hand-held shooting
2 x Pkt Wizard Flex TT5's - so this is emulating a 'mini-studio' environment

Ha! Thats cool! You have a mini studio there! Need some light modifiers though! Those flashes are too harsh without diffusion.

Hi Ron, You are quite welcome to post a link to your images that are hosted on "your own server or site" at any size you wish, right up to the original size.
We have a limitation of pixel size here at POTN for a very good reason.
Just one of those reasons being the fact that not everybody has, or can afford a large monitor. It's a real bear to have to scroll sideways too. ;)
I think the rules are good ones. We are always open to suggestions though. :)

Bruce, Thanks for the reply! My photo files are on my laptop and backed up on disc storage only...no site, no server. I send and receive high-res JPEG's often. Can you not take the same approach in this forum?
Ron

What if we could post large and small sized files and the users had a choice on which to view? Would that be possible or too tough to incorporate?
