I'm ambivalent anent the crop. I'm drawn to this photo, but there seems to be something not quite right about it, and I think it's that the top of the frame is too close to the top of her head.

Still a nice photo of a prepossessing subject, though. 8-)

Nice at first glance. Not sure how I feel about the flare. 85mm, no? I'm familiar with the low-contrast wide open. She's leaning too much, her fingers are cut off (big no-no in fashion, apparently), and here eye line is rather uncomfortable with the crop and subject matter (our attention is on the gate rather than on her). Out of focus but recognizable blue bimmer and red car in the background (too prominent in the photo) takes away from the photo for me. Hope that breaks things down. Lot of potential though for some hipster tumblr style fashion stuff.

No problem! Omg, I have to try that now. I have a photo where I threw in every shameless photomanipulation into a cityscape photo, and I have to add this into it. Btw, you uh...an Abrams fan? :D

JJ Abrams, Hollywood director, famous for his disgustingly liberal use of flares in his movies. He'll go out of the way to create flare using light sources like flash lights hitting directly at specific lenses chosen just for their flaring quality. See this for reference and humor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJxj1mou03M (external link). Also see the behind-the-scenes for the first reboot Star Trek film under Abrams.
