Spotted the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport in Amazon's goldbox section. Site is reporting that deal will be available on 4/14 5:00 AM PST for prime members. Don't know how much of a discount but could be a good savings.

It's about the color accuracy, not the materials used. Some might have the same argument against paying $80 for a print...

there is software that comes with the plastic and paper that allows you to create custom camera profiles.
