One of my favorite EMail lists is Lost Image Desk. http://lostimagedesk.com/
One a week they send out an EMail with scans of old photographs, posters, album covers, magazine ads, etc, etc.
If you are looking for inspiration falls under the umbrella of "quirky retro-cool" this is often it.
Each list is theme oriented, and I will admit that this week is not the best for photographers (Tickets), but sometimes they really hit the nail on the head with awesome old photographs.
Not much to see on the site - just a statement of purpose and a sign-up form - the meat of their work comes on the weekly EMails.
