I've wanted this Mono-pod head for ages now, but its such a pain getting one in the UK. The place I got one from in the end, are based in the Netherlands. Because they only get one at a time in stock I was checking nearly everyday. Well I struck lucky when it was in stock.

Now I have it, its an awesome head. Very well built, plus I can now keep the foot plate on the lens rather than keep taking it off to screw the mono-pod on directly(I needed the plate on when using my Tri-pod).

I will be using the head with my Gitzo GM5541 carbon mono-pod(which is also awesome).

Anyway heres some un-packing pics if anyone is thinking about getting one ?

Very interesting Alan B.
RRS stuff is normally hideously expensive over here so I would be very interested in the price and the retailer. Currently I have the Sirui L10 which is good and fine for lenses up to my 300 F2.8, however it is not up to larger lenses.
Is that a 600 F4 in your pics? If it handles that lens well then my 800 F5.6 should be fine at a "lightweight" 4.5 Kilos!

I paid £196 with delivery

This is the ONLY place that seem to sell RRS in the UK/Europe, which I don't understand as they're gear is top notch ?.

As said it does seem to take awhile for them to get the RRS products though, I have waited since November for that head!

That's a pretty hefty price - but if you want the best it isn't cheap!
I haven't looked at RRS products for a while as they were just stupidly expensive. A local photographer bought an RRS (3 series equivalent) tripod about 5 years ago. At the time I had bought 3 brand new Gitzo tripods + one used one for 20 pounds less - this is why I stopped looking at RRS!
Although it is expensive there are few (if any) alternatives - I will keep an eye on them!
Thanks again.

Congratulations. I have some RRS products, including the monopod head and they are all high quality products.

When I have a £5700 lens and a £3500 Camera on the end I want the best!

The same reason when I bought my wimberley gimbal and Gitzo Carbon legs!

Cheapskate - you should get some expensive gear!

Of course you want/need the best as do I and this appears to be it. My objection is that it is overpriced and even more so in Europe! Still there is no viable alternative, that I know of, so we just have to bite the bullet and pay the price.
Like you I use a Wimberley2 Gitzo combination and with 13.5K on top I wouldn't use anything less, but at least I was able to get these at sensible prices' Looks like I will have to start saving!
By the way I have used a friend's MH01 and it is very good and excellently made, you will like it! Pity they are so pricey.

Congrats Alan B ~ well worth the weight. We only go around once in this world - why settle for anything but the best. Any reason why you leave your disc from the top of the monopod on vice just mounting the head directly. I've taken mine off to make it easier to travel, carry, and store. Usually place my non trigger hand on the lens foot for stability. Just curious of what I maybe missing with the disc between the head and monopod. Aloha, Mike
