Maria Island is a stunningly tranquil Island off the East Coast of Tasmania. The wildlife is abundant and the ancient geography is amazing. There are fossil cliffs on the beach (featured in David Attenborough's Lonely Plant) and an amazing Dolomite ridge formed from volcanic eruption millions of years ago. It was a penal colony in the 1800's and accommodation is camping style in the old Penitentiary (now called Darlington settlement) - part of which is shown in the night sky shot.
All taken with the Sony A7R and the Sony Vario-Tessar T FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS. For the Landscape shots I generally use the Cokin Z Pro system with either a HiTech 0.9 or 0.6 Soft Grad ND and a Cokin Pro CPL. Most are 3 shot HDR +- 1 EV - except for long exposures.
