OK, im in the mood for a dedicated 1:1 lens and have narrowed it down to these two but which is best....and will they fit on my 600D?...also if there any recommendations other than the two i have my eye on then feel free to inform me but £400 really is my upper limit.
thanks in advance and i hapoe i have put this in the right section, i look forward to your replies.

Heya,

Of those two, the Sigma 105 OS is the better performer. It's a great lens if you know that this focal length and minimum focus distance is what you're wanting for your 1:1.

When choosing a macro lens for 1:1, you should compare minimum focus distance and that should be your guiding factor based on what you shoot. Some require you to get very close. Some allow for more working distance (and they are longer focal lengths typically). If you're ok with the working distance of the minimum focus distance of the lens, it's good to go for your.

Don't forget lighting.

Very best,

Well the minimum focal distance for the tamron is 0.29m and the sigma is 0.31m so they are almost the same, I am leaning toward the sigma....

Heya,

The distance I was referring to was more to help differentiate between a 50mm + extension tubes, a 90/100/105mm and a 180mm.

Very best,

I have the Sigma 105, a brilliant lens. I got it from WEX photographic in December, it was then £379, but it looks as though it has gone up by £20 since then.

Try camerapricebuster in the link below.

You won't regret it. Where did you get it from in the end?

cheers mate, i ended up buying it from Jessops, i know i could have bought one cheaper on Amazon but they had one in stock and i wanted it immediately, you know what kids are like when they want a new toy lol
i put up a sample shot that i took yesterday evening, not the best as i have a tone to learn on the lens but its a start, and its straight out of the camera.
