OK...So, is this something that can be fixed by the method of "Manually cleaning the sensor, keeping the cap on, turn off camera after 30 seconds?" I don't have my 70D with me right now to check. I'm at work and just noticed this.

First, I don't do astro photography and was just experimenting when I noticed these pixels. So don't judge the images! lol

I noticed these dots when viewing the RAWs in Bridge. They are gone when I convert to JPEG.

The 1st image is a screen shot of the RAW file in Bridge. I circled the pixels for you. There are more, but these are the most noticeable. I know some of them may be difficult to see but they are there.

The 2nd image is the JPEG and does NOT have the red/blue/green pixels. But I left the circles so you could see where they are in the RAW.

Thanks!

RAW screen shot w colored pixels

I don't think your CR2->JPG differences mean anything at all. A better test would be to do a 1 second exposure at ISO 100 with the lens cap on. Look at the CR2 on camera, and on computer WITHOUT PROCESSING IT AT ALL. Lightroom and DPP will let you look at a non-processed (just converted to image) view.

If the colored pixels are still there, map out the hot pixels by doing a manual clean with the lens off, then take out the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes.

My guess is that you don't have a problem. Good luck with it.

It's probably just sensor noise from a long exposure - how long did you have the shutter open?

you are showing a screen shot from bridge, so that doesn't show any processing.

the jpg is, i'm assuming, from a lightroom processed image, right? lightroom takes out the hot pixels.

I did the manual clean with the cap on thing. It seems to have worked. Im guessing the pixels are just "cleaned up" when the RAW files are compressed into jpegs.
