Was out today and this weird issue cropped up. I think it has to be sensor related. The issue is totally random and the lines stay with the camera orientation. Happens with all lenses and different SD cards. Kinda made my HDR attempted useless.

I have also reset the camera to factory, and that did not clear it up.

Anyone had this happen before?

Just to confirm: You have tried different cards? Have you tried one that you are absolutely certain is a good one, like maybe a new one bought from a reputable retailer?

You have formatted the card in the camera, right? Tried a different card reader?

I got 2 cards. Reader wouldn't matter as I can view these images on camera and they are messed up. I tried my cards in a T3i and no problems for 30 shots. Put it in my 70d and 4th shot was messed up like above.

Was it formatted in the T3i? If so, format it in the 70D & try again.

When LCD screen do this it's normally a improperly seated ribbon cable. I'd guess there is something with the ribbon cable connecting your sensor to the main logic board.

To be clear I'm not saying it's a problem with your LCD as I'm sure you checked on the computer, just that LCD's often look this way for the above reasons, which is what informs my opinion.

I come here for your expert opinion. Please do not hesitate to critique or edit.

I'd be inclined to try shooting with the camera tethered to a laptop if at all possible, as it may eliminate the card as a possible problem. Suspect it's a sensor or main board issue though, is it still under warranty?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

The cards are fine, they were tested in another camera. You can see the bad images when shooting w/o card on the image review.

Its under warranty (12 month ended 4/15), but it's under the 1 month grace, so it will be going back.

One thing you might check. Take a look at the CF pins. Might have bent a couple.

I did notice something else. If I move to single shot mode, every image is like the one I posted, if I move to high speed burst, only the 1st image is messed up, rest are fine. Just plain weird.

Not that weird. In burst the sensor stays energized. This is 100% electronics in the camera unfortunatley. It looks like the sensor is not initializing fast enough and it is still powering up when the shutter opens. When you switch to live view do you see a similar pattern flash by for an instant before it clears up? Are live view photos ok?
