I have a Canon T4i and Speedlight 430EX. I've been reading about lighting a bit but get more and more confused. Light stands, brackets, umbrellas... What do I need? Could someone list the items I need for a basic cheap set up (but one that doesn't fall on my newborn).

Apr 24, 2015 06:25 | #3 I'd suggest learning to bounce your flash before buying new gear like light stands and modifiers. With some experimentation and practice you can achieve really nice results, while developing more understanding about how light behaves and what sort of extra gear might best meet your needs a bit further down the track.
