This is another shot from Patagonia taken while waiting for the weather to improve. The fall colors were blazing and made for an amazing waterfall scene here at the Chorrillo del Salto.

Incredible shot. The sense of motion is JUST right. Literally looks like its in motion for as long as I look at it. Perfect perspective in my eyes. Curious as to where you actually shot this from?? Were you in the water or was this over a bridge or something?

Thanks! When shooting waterfalls I normally take a wide range of shutter speeds, usually from .25 to 2 seconds, to evaluate the motion of the water, and then I'll usually take a good 7 shots or so at each shutter speed that looks good. But to answer your question, I was in the water and it was COLD, so in an effort to to get out of there as quickly as possible, I only took 2 shutter speeds, mostly all at 1/3 with two at .6 seconds. I actually liked the texture in the water better at .6 but decided to go with the .3 shot here as the comp in general was better. Not the most flattering of poses, but sometimes you just have to get wet :D (taken by the very talented John Collins (external link))

Awesome shot. Was just going to ask how you got in position, but see from the second photo. Brrr! Worth it though!

Awesome shot! Glad someone else asked about getting this shot because it was the first thing that popped into my head - I also envisioned something similar to your bts shot. Brrr is right!

Thanks for sharing!
